Although Sunrise Park Resort is Arizona's premier ski area, it is a four season getaway vacation destination that features all year outdoor recreation in a region filled with alpine splendor. Located in the Arizona White Mountains in northeast Arizona close to the New Mexico border, Sunrise Park Resort is a scenic wonderland characterized by pine forests, forested mountains and pristine lakes.

The resort is owned and operated by the White Mountain Apache Indian Tribe and depending upon your departure point, it is located about 200 miles from the Phoenix area and about 230 driving miles from Tucson.

Snow Skiing and Winter Adventure

The Sunrise Park Resort's three mountains feature world class skiing with 65 spectacular runs that offer winter excitement for skiers of all ages and skill levels. The resort's Express High Speed Detachable Quad Chairlift can deliver sixteen thousand skiers uphill per hour!

Families with young children will appreciate the "ski-wee" section that permits the little ones to learn to ski in a safer environment. The TerrainPark offers skiers and snowboarders the chance to show off their skills on a snow half pipe, wood and metal rails, and a contained event space. For the cross-country enthusiasts the Park features plenty of cross-country ski trails.

If you need gear, the Sunrise Rental Shop can provide your needs from ski-gear rental to warm clothing for skiing comfort. The service shop include gear repair, snowboards and skis as well as skiing lessons and trail permits.

Year Round Vacation Fun

After the ski season, Sunrise Park is still a great escape from the hectic pace of city life and the hotter temperatures in the desert cities of Phoenix and Tucson. Springtime brings colorful meadow of wildflowers as the green leaves on the Aspens begin to emerge. This is a great time to explore natures beauty along the many hiking trails in the area.

Summer at Sunrise Resort and the White Mountains is spectacular. Fishing at Sunrise Lake for Rainbow, Brook and Apache Trout is a blast. Boat rentals are available for those that either want to fish or just enjoy a pleasant summer day on the lake. Sunrise is the only lake on the White Mountain Apache Indian Reservation that permits gas-powered boat motors.

The summer is ideal for hiking, riding the lifts for great panoramic views, mountain biking, golfing nearby courses and horseback riding.

Lodging and Accommodations

Sunrise Lodge is available during the summer and winter seasons and features one hundred rooms, a lounge, game room and indoor pool. Vacationers marvel at the views across the horizons as well as great dining. And for additional adult enterainment, the Hon-Dah Resort Casino is located nearby when you get the gambling adrenalin rush.

Sunrise RV Park

Sunrise RV Park is located at the entrance of the Sunrise Park Resort.There are 20 available spaces available with each providing a 30 amp electrical hook up. Water is not available at the sites, but is available at the Sunrise General Store across the road. Spaces are available for rent during both the summer and winter months and ental permits can be purchased at the Sunrise General Store. Please call (928) 735-7669, extension 2180 for availability.

Sunrise Campground

The campground is also located at the entrance of the Sunrise Park Resort. It is a primitive campground in the quiet pines. There are approximately 200 sites which can accommodate anything from a tent to large motor homes. There are no facilities or hookups. Port-a-jons and water are available throughout the campground. You'll find tables and firepits are at most sites. A permit required, per vehicle and can be purchased from the General Store.

The resort is located on Highway 273 about 34 miles from Show Low AZ which is the hub center of the White Mountains. Click here for directions to the White Mountains. If you fly-in, The Show Low Airport is convenient.
